Here’s my own personal little nod to a close friend and a phenomenal artist of many mediums. John Campbell and I have been collaborating since I started modeling in Portland, and from our friendship and close collaborations we have produced a dizzying amount of stunning, intimate photographs. A man of many talents, he is a photographer, teacher and cinematographer (nestled in his resume is several Gus Vant Sant films). His approach to capturing his subject is casual, seemingly effortless and personal. You meet up, you hit it off (at least in my case), you chat, and you create art while having a wonderful time. I have worked with many photographers that require blood, sweat and tears to create the image they want. I can’t say those images come close to the incredible beauty and simplicity of the images I have created with John. He proves you don’t have to beat your subject into submission in order to create art. You just have to know the subject. That’s really what artistic collaboration is all about, right?
